Internet Gangsters

Sometimes folks get so full of themselves on social media that Facebook/Instagram etc. become the internet version of Mean Girls.

I wrote a poem about  it.

Soliloquy at Sunrise

Why don’t you tell me how you really feel?
Thinly veiled threats
Red death masks
We masquerade as untouchable
Rebel gal
Infallible but oh so
Laughable
As the minor becomes major
Players keep playing
And naysayers keep saying
You doing too much and choosing your light words too lightly
Never realizing
How the streets is watching
And waiting
And dare I say it
Hating
Yet you stand in the mirror
Like a vampire
No reflection
Recollecting none of the venom you spew
And expecting none in return
I’m scared of you
Cause ain’t no voodoo nor hoodoo that men do like you do
Your lovely demeanor
Gets leaner and meaner
I’ve seen her
The cracks become chasms
And the internal dialogue
Begets external monologue
All I can say is “do you boo”
But don’t get done.
One.
